KANKAKEE, IL (March 17, 2016)- This past weekend, Riverside’s 2016 Heart Ball gala, Colors of the Heart, set records with 1,020 guests in attendance and $540,000 raised for the advancement of Neurosciences- the most raised by a single event in Kankakee County’s history.

The volunteer committee, co-chaired by Claudette Hemenover and Amy Kemp, designed an event program that saturated guests not only in energy, but also in color. The evening featured beautiful gem toned décor, local artists from Kankakee’s Feed Arts & Cultural Center in the social lobby, and entertainment from America’s Got Talent finalist and speed-painter, David Garibaldi.

This distinction places Riverside among the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical outcomes. Healthgrades also presented the Stroke Care Specialty Excellence Award for the 7th year in a row, making Riverside among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for the treatment of stroke.

Other notable program elements included two announcements from Kambic.

Riverside Gives Good Heart Award
At each Heart Ball, Kambic historically bestows Riverside’s highest honor, the Good Heart Award. Kambic named Mrs. Kay Preisel as the 2016 Good Heart Award recipient, "for her impact spanning more than five decades, for her pledge of future support that will shape generations to come, and for her shining example of how to age gracefully."

Riverside Recognized as Top 100 Hospital
Kambic also announced that Riverside has been named by Truven Analytics as a 2016 Top 100 Hospital, earning the distinction for the seventh time. Winners are selected among 3,000 hospitals based on patient outcome and performance data. Kambic congratulated and acknowledged all Riverside employees and the team effort to earn this recognition.

Matt McBurnie, Riverside Vice President of Institutional Advancement, reflected on the event saying, "The overwhelming generosity from our community, medical staff, employees, volunteers, and vendors demonstrates again our partnership. We celebrated together, made lasting memories, and advanced a critical healthcare cause for our community."
