Lab-based, data driven care is provided. I'm seeing a functional doctor, though, for guidance on diet and supplements and life-style changes, as well as additional testing for my thyroid health and holistic treatment of my autoimmune disease: Hashimoto's. Dr. Shell has shown resistance in ordering additional testing for antibodies and other thyroid tests. She tested them once but said she would not treat based upon those results. I had to ask her to physically examine my thyroid gland. I appreciate her friendly bed-side manner. I'm looking for a whole-body approach, though. This is why I am supplementing my care with a functional medical doctor. It would be great to consolidate with one practitioner, but I understand Dr. Shell's approach as an endocrinologist. Overall I would recommend Dr. Shell to friends/family if they were looking for an endocrinologist in this area.

Not only does Dr. Shell make recommendations, she also tells you why. I have also learned from her how my body works in relation to diabetes. For example, she explained why drinking adequate water was so important to my body.
