For years, radiation has effectively treated many types of cancer, but radiation often harms non-cancerous cells. The DNA within a non-cancerous cell allows it to restore itself with time and absence of radiation. Using IMRT and our state-of-the-art LINAC we are able to minimize or avoid exposing non-cancerous cells to radiation. With this in mind, Rush-Riverside Cancer Institute physicians are focused on the latest radiation treatments that eliminate the cancer while saving healthy tissue.
