Riverside Geriatric Assessment Center

Geriatric Care at the Riverside Geriatric Assessment Center focuses on the needs of patients who are age 50 and older and addresses the multiple problems that occur with aging.

Geriatric Assessment

The Geriatric Assessment begins by interviewing the patient and his/ her family and caregivers. The geriatric specialist then examines the patients medical history as well administering a physical examination. Additional tests to address specific geriatric syndromes may also be needed. When the assessment is completed an individualized treatment plan is developed to suit the patient's needs.

  1. I already have a doctor. Why do I need a geriatrician?

    A geriatrician consults with your primary care physician to deliver optimum care. You do not need to switch doctors to receive this specialized care.

  2. Who arranges a geriatric consultation?

    There are serveral ways to arrange a consultation. You can schedule it; it can be arranged by a family member or by a caregiver; or you can ask your doctor to make an appointment for you.

  3. How do I schedule and appointment?

  4. Will my insurance cover a geriatric assessment?

    Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, and most carriers cover geriatric assessments (after deductibles are met).
