Hospitalist Program
Riverside's hospitalist program includes several hospitalist physicians trained in internal medicine. Hospitalists are doctors who care for the in-patient needs of those without personal physicians or of those whose primary care doctors limit their practice to the outpatient setting.
The hospitalist team at Riverside is on-site 24-hours a day, seven days a week and communicates with primary care physicians, nursing staff, the emergency department and other hospital personnel to provide admitted patients with coordinated, ongoing and immediate care. When a patient is admitted from the emergency department, a hospitalist will generally attend to that patient within an hour of being called. During a patient's stay, one of the hospitalists is on-site at all times and is ready to respond to the questions and concerns of the patient and family.
