Chronic Pain Management at Riverside
The Riverside Chronic Pain Management Program uses education and a variety of therapy techniques to relieve symptoms of chronic pain. There are multiple programs at Riverside Rehabilitation Services that address and treat chronic pain:
Physical Therapy - Addresses pain through a variety of manual techniques, exercise, education and modalities such as heat, Electrical Stimulation, and Ultrasound when needed.
Myofascial Release - This is a specialized chronic pain program through the Occupational Therapy Department. This chronic pain program involves an advanced manual technique called myofascial release. This treatment, along with exercise and an education program, has been very effective in treating chronic pain that does not respond to conventional treatments. Our Occupational Therapy team at the Riverside Atrium location has advanced certification in the myofascial release technique.
Yoga Physical Therapy - This therapy type uses exercise and mind/body techniques to help the patient control their chronic pain. Patients learn about their body types and stressors that cause increases in pain and learn meditative and exercise techniques to self relieve pain. This program is offered at our Hosptial Campus by a therapy certified in Yoga and Yoga Therapy.
Integrative Physical Therapy - This branch of therapy combines traditional therapy means with yoga, Ayurveda, and other mind/body techniques to teach the patient pain mamagement. This technique is especially useful for patients who have failed multiple attempts at traditional therapy and are ready to explore their mind/body relationship as they are educated on exercise and pain management. This program is offered at our Hosptial Campus by a therapist certified in Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine, and use of Integrative Physical Therapy.
