Riverside developed the Fit 4 Life program around the goal to help fight the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and focus on health and wellness for our future generations.
The hour-long program is divided into three age-appropriate sessions that incorporate exercise, such as Zumba, yoga, and fitness training; healthy eating tips based on the 5210 Let’s Go Partnership for a Healthy Community; and an age-related social topic discussion which may include subjects such as safety, bullying, or peer pressure.
Monthly classes are offered at the Coal City and Wilmington libraries for 7 to 12 year olds and at the Riverside Health Fitness Center.
The Fit 4 Life program is coordinated by Diane McGrath, Manager of Pediatric Services at Riverside Medical Center.
