KANKAKEE, IL —  The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence based on meeting accreditation criteria, and through their ongoing performance registry reporting.

“The team at the Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute strives to provide the highest quality of care, close to home,” said Riverside Healthcare President and CEO Phil Kambic. “It is because of our team’s dedication and expertise that allows us to provide patients with advanced compassionate care that improves quality of life. We are proud to continue setting a high standard of heart care and to be recognized for our efforts to enhance health outcomes for our community.”

Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, NCDR registries and targeted quality improvement campaigns, such as Patient Navigator Program: Focus MI, that are designed to help hospitals and institutions close gaps in guideline-based care. Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute was previously awarded Chest Pain and Heart Failure Accreditations by ACC Accreditation Services.

“Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute has demonstrated its commitment to providing the Kankakee area with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute with the HeartCARE Center designation.”

Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement. Riverside Heart & Vascular Institute has proven to be a forward-thinking institution with goals to advance the cause of sustainable quality improvement.
