Nearly 200 students, teachers and community members joined Riverside Healthcare at the Twelfth Annual Art 4 Heart event at The Majestic in Kankakee on Thursday, February 23.
The reception featured artwork submitted by 60 talented high school students depicting the journey to a healthy heart through the artist's eye.
Submissions included intricate drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography and more from the following schools:
- Bishop McNamara High School
- Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School
- Clifton Central High School
- Dwight Township High School
- Grant Park High School
- Kankakee High School
- Kankakee Trinity Academy
- Momence High School
- Reed-Custer High School
The grand prize award went to Anna DuMontelle from Momence High School for her colored pencil, acrylic, and oil pastel piece titled, "Bluu." Haley Budick from Reed-Custer High School was the first runner up with her colored pencil piece titled, "From the Ground Up." Jolie Corral from Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School was named the second runner up with her mixed media sculpture titled, "Mr. Smith."
Local artist Christina Loraine again served as Art 4 Heart curator for the twelfth year in a row. Guest judge this year was artist Ann Wendlick who was responsible for selecting the recipients of the awards.
