Riverside Medical Center Earns National Recognition for Lifesaving Heart Attack Care
July 18, 2025
When it comes to heart attack care, every second counts—and so does the quality-of-care patients receive. Riverside Medical Center has once again been recognized among the best in the nation, earning the American College of Cardiology’s Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025. Riverside is one of just 323 hospitals in the U.S. to receive this honor.
“This recognition is a direct result of the expertise, commitment, and compassion our team brings to every patient encounter,” said Phil Kambic, president and CEO of Riverside Healthcare. “Heart disease remains a serious concern in our community, and we take great pride in consistently delivering care that meets—and exceeds—national standards. We’re honored to be recognized among the top hospitals in the country for our efforts.”
The award is based on Riverside’s performance in the Chest Pain – MI Registry, which tracks how well hospitals follow proven treatment guidelines for heart attack patients. To receive the Platinum Award, hospitals must meet specific performance measures for two consecutive years—in Riverside’s case, for both 2023 and 2024.
For patients, this means you can count on Riverside to provide the most current, evidence-based care, including:
- Rapid diagnosis and treatment
- Timely medications and procedures to restore blood flow
- Support for lifestyle changes, including smoking cessation and cardiac rehabilitation
“It is an honor to award Riverside Medical Center with the Platinum Performance Award for their valuable national leadership and dedication to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” said Michael C. Kontos, MD, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, and cardiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. “The receipt of this award indicates that Riverside remains committed to providing top quality, guideline-driven care for heart attack patients. Their success ensures patients are receiving the highest quality cardiovascular care.”
According to the CDC, more than 800,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. The work Riverside is doing—guided by national best practices and a strong commitment to the community—ensures that patients and families don’t have to leave home to get world-class care when it matters most.
