Becker’s Hospital Review, one of the nation’s leaders in news coverage of the healthcare industry, has recognized Riverside Healthcare President and CEO Phil Kambic as one of “207 Community Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know” for 2025.Phil Kambic

“Our community deserves access to compassionate, high-quality care, without having to travel long distances,” said Kambic. “For more than 60 years, Riverside has consistently served the people of this community. I am proud to receive this recognition from Becker’s and am committed to improving and expanding Riverside’s services into the future.”

Kambic joined Riverside Healthcare in 1985 and served as senior vice president and COO before being appointed president and CEO in 2006. He previously chaired the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA) board of directors, and continues to serve as a board member. He has emphasized Riverside Healthcare’s efforts to ensure community access to extraordinary care, close to home. Under Kambic’s leadership, Riverside has received recognition for area-leading care programs and for being one of Illinois’ healthiest employers.

In releasing the list, Becker’s noted, “While many community hospitals focus on acute care, these forward-thinking CEOs are also expanding services to include primary care, specialty treatments, rehabilitation, public health programs and beyond.”

Riverside Medical Center is a nationally recognized, award-winning level II trauma hospital that provides essential healthcare services to the community, including advanced heart care, cancer care, neurosurgery, and orthopedics programs. The medical center’s providers pride themselves on delivering necessary care to community members who might otherwise have to travel long distances for treatment in Chicago. In 2025, it was recognized as one of Premier’s “100 Top Hospitals.” Riverside Medical Center is also the only hospital in the area to receive Magnet® designation for nursing excellence.
