About Me

Dr. Liu is a heart doctor in Kankakee who cares for heart failure, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems and advanced heart imaging. He combines cardiology care with training in cardiac magnetic resonance and other heart imaging tools.

I started as an engineer at Mayo Clinic, where I saw how much compassion physicians brought to patient care. That experience led me back to school and eventually to cardiology, where I can combine science, detail and service to others. My care is built on partnership because everyone has their own life's journey. I listen to each patient’s story and work with them toward realistic health goals. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Riverside Medical Center, and completed advanced cardiac imaging training at the University of Chicago. I am certified in adult echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular magnetic resonance and cardiovascular computed tomography, and board certified in internal medicine. My clinical focus includes heart failure, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems, valve disease and cardiomyopathy, with advanced heart imaging when needed.

Dr. Liu is the favorite doctor I've ever dealt with for anything. He explains everything perfectly, listens attentively, and has amazing answers for every question. I cannot say enough good things about him. I truly wish he was my doctor for everything and not just my cardiologist.

Dr. Liu is an excellent Dr, but I have difficulty with controlling one aspect of care. He is reluctant to speculate where I may find more answers. As with most physicians at Riverside, they defer to other Doctors or PCP for anything besides exactly what they treat, even if it's related.

Dr.Liu is great. It is more like talking to family member than a clinical experience. He is very attentive to your fears and needs and addresses both with care and compassion. Dr. Liu takes his time with me. I have cp and in a wheelchair. He speaks to me and lets me participate in my care with my mother by my side. Most doctors tend to ask my mom the questions. Dr. Lui is considerate of my feelings.
