Property Damage Self-Assessment

The Kankakee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security have established a self-assessment reporting link for residents affected by the March 10 storms. If your home, vehicle, or property was damaged, reporting helps local and state agencies assess the full scope of the damage and determine what recovery assistance may be available.

SBA disaster loan help

In-person help is now available for residents, homeowners, renters, and businesses affected by the March 10, 2026 storm. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has opened local Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to help people understand eligibility, complete applications, and get guidance on available recovery options.

SBA outreach centers now open in Aroma Park, Kankakee, and Bradley

Financial assistance may be available for people and businesses in the declared disaster areas, including the Illinois counties of Kankakee, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Livingston, and Will, and the Indiana counties of Lake and Newton.

Application deadlines: Physical damage loans must be submitted by June 8, 2026. Economic injury loan applications must be submitted by January 11, 2027.

These loans may help eligible homeowners, renters, businesses, and certain nonprofit organizations with repair, replacement, and other disaster-related recovery needs.

Safety Advisory

Please Avoid Unnecessary Travel in Affected Areas

Emergency crews, law enforcement, and recovery teams are actively working in storm-damaged areas. The Kankakee County EMA asks that residents who do not live in or have direct ties to affected areas avoid traveling through them. Unnecessary traffic is slowing debris removal, structural assessments, and search-and-rescue efforts.

Members of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) are going door-to-door in affected neighborhoods to check on residents and assess damage. Teams from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the National Weather Service are also surveying the area.

Parking Garages Reserved During Severe Weather

As severe weather is possible in our area, Riverside parking garages must remain available for patients, visitors, and staff so we can continue caring for those who need us.

Please do not use Riverside parking garages for general public storm parking. We are grateful for your understanding and for helping us keep care accessible for our community when it matters most.
