Property Damage Self-Assessment

The Kankakee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security have established a self-assessment reporting link for residents affected by the March 10 storms. If your home, vehicle, or property was damaged, reporting helps local and state agencies assess the full scope of the damage and determine what recovery assistance may be available.

Please Avoid Unnecessary Travel in Affected Areas

Emergency crews, law enforcement, and recovery teams are actively working in storm-damaged areas. The Kankakee County EMA asks that residents who do not live in or have direct ties to affected areas avoid traveling through them. Unnecessary traffic is slowing debris removal, structural assessments, and search-and-rescue efforts.

Members of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) are going door-to-door in affected neighborhoods to check on residents and assess damage. Teams from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the National Weather Service are also surveying the area.
