Psychiatry Residency Curriculum
Residents in the Psychiatry Program enjoy a rotation and curriculum that offers a wide variety of clinical and hospital-based experiences.
Program Rotations:
PGY-1: Inpatient Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Neurology
PGY-2: Inpatient Psychiatry, Consult/Liaison Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency, Geriatric Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
PGY-3: Outpatient Psychiatry
PGY-4: Electives, Administrative Psychiatry, Research, Outpatient and Inpatient Psychiatry
Psychiatry didactics include Biopsychosocial Formulations, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, In-Patient Psychiatry, History of Psychiatry, Neurology, Psychopathology, Substance Abuse Intro, Psychiatric Emergencies, Psychopharmacology Intro, Psychosomatic Medicine, NeuroScience, Intro to Psychotherapy, Eating Disorder Lectures, Forensics, Neurology, Administrative Lectures, and Support Groups.
Night Float
Our night float system provides residents with focused experience managing psychiatric emergencies and overnight inpatient care while supporting continuity of patient care and resident wellness.
- PGY-1 through PGY-3 residents participate in dedicated night float rotations.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Residents gain experience with emergency evaluations, admissions, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and overnight inpatient management.
- Overnight clinical care is provided with graduated responsibility and 24/7 attending psychiatrist supervision.
- Residents on night float are excused from morning report and select didactic sessions to allow for appropriate rest.
