Riverside Healthcare has announced the closing of its Riverside Family Pharmacy on Thursday, December 31st. Riverside has communicated the closure to its employees and will be sending letters to pharmacy customers in the coming weeks.

“Larger retail pharmacy chains offer significant advantages to customers including extended hours, easy-access technologies, and nationwide connectedness,” said Riverside Senior Vice President Patt Vilt, explaining some of the reasons behind the closing.

Riverside opened the Riverside Family Pharmacy in 1987. Riverside is working with employees of the pharmacy to identify other opportunities within the Riverside system, Vilt said. This change does not impact Riverside’s inpatient pharmacy operations or the Marketplace Gift Shop.

“We are confident the many retail pharmacies in our community will provide excellent service for those we have been grateful to serve these many years,” Vilt said.
