For many people, recognizing that alcohol or substance use may be affecting their health or daily life can feel overwhelming. The good news is that help is available, and reaching out for support can be the first step toward recovery. Riverside Behavioral Health now offers a Substance Use Disorder program designed to support adults age 18 and older who are ready to take that step.
Located at the Riverside Center for Emotional Well Being in Bradley, this program takes a dual-focus approach by addressing both substance use and mental health at the same time. Because these challenges often go hand in hand, treating them together can lead to stronger, more sustainable recovery. Best of all, no physician referral is needed to get started.
Participants take part in group therapy sessions that provide a supportive environment to learn new coping skills, build a relapse prevention plan, and connect with others who may be facing similar challenges. Medication-assisted treatment options, such as Suboxone, and medication management are also available when appropriate.
Care is delivered by a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes master’s level clinicians, Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselors, a registered nurse, and a board-certified psychiatrist.
“If someone is generally interested in seeking treatment for substance use, I think one of the most important steps is to reach out and ask for help,” said Lisa Barnes, MSW, LSW, CADC, with Riverside Behavioral Health.
Adults interested in learning more about the program can call Riverside Outpatient Behavioral Health at (815) 936-7373 or the 24/7 Central Intake Department at (844) 442-2551 to schedule an intake.
