Have an Orthopedic Concern? Riverside’s Walk-In Clinic Can Help

When joint pain, a sprained ankle, or a sudden injury disrupts your routine, waiting weeks for an appointment isn’t always an option. That’s where Riverside Healthcare’s walk-in clinic comes in. Whether you’re dealing with a minor fracture, lingering knee pain, or another orthopedic concern, the expert team at Riverside is ready to provide fast, effective care—no appointment necessary. With convenient hours and onsite imaging, they are there to help you get answers and relief, right when you need it.

Here, Jessica Norman, orthopedic nurse practitioner and Steve Liaromatis, practice manager for Riverside Healthcare’s Orthopedic and Spine Center, offer details surrounding the clinic and its services.

What Types of Issues Does the Walk-In Clinic Address?

Riverside’s walk-in clinic offers several advantages over a visit to the emergency room for certain orthopedic concerns. Patients can often be seen by an orthopedic specialist right away—without the long ER wait times—and avoid the extra step of being referred later.

The clinic treats a range of issues including sprains, strains, and acute joint pain, not just sports injuries. However, for more serious conditions like car accidents, head injuries, open fractures, or neck and back pain, patients should go directly to the ER to ensure they receive the appropriate level of care.

“If there are any questions about where to go for what type of injury, individuals should always call the office. Our team can direct you to where to go, if it's more of an appropriate step to come to our walk-in clinic versus going to the emergency room. Any questions at all, just ask,” urges Norman.

Truly, a One-Stop Shop for Orthopedic Care (And More)

One major advantage of Riverside’s Orthopedic and Spine Center is the convenience of having multiple specialized services under one roof. Patients benefit from comprehensive, coordinated care—whether they need orthopedic treatment, physical or occupational therapy, neurosurgery for spine or neck issues, interventional pain management, or podiatry for foot and ankle concerns. This integrated approach ensures that patients are quickly connected with the right specialist, streamlining their care and improving outcomes.

“It really is all encompassing care. Not only that, but one additional benefit is that the clinic is on the north campus. So, if you come in and you don't have a primary care provider, for example, we have primary care options right across the parking lot,” notes Liaromatis. “We can really get you situated with a lot of your healthcare needs.”

The Logistics of Walking In

At check-in, patients are required to provide a photo ID and insurance information to verify identity and coverage. If a patient doesn’t have insurance, financial assistance options are available. It's also helpful for patients to know that while there may be a short wait if providers are seeing other patients, it’s typically much shorter than an emergency room visit—another key benefit of using the walk-in clinic.

If you've had previous imaging done elsewhere for the same issue, try to bring those images with you to the walk-in clinic to avoid unnecessary repeat scans and extra charges. However, if you're coming in with a new injury or acute pain, the team may still perform new imaging to ensure there’s no additional damage.

“We have a lot of different resources here at Riverside, and we are here to help our community,” assures Norman. “So, if you do have these injuries, it's really important to know such resources are available. That way, these patients aren't always having to go to the emergency room, when we can absolutely treat them in our office.”
