When most people think about healthcare, they think about seeing a doctor for themselves. But, there is another side of healthcare that focuses on keeping whole workplaces healthy and safe. That is exactly what Riverside's WorkForce Health program does.

What Is WorkForce Health

Akash Rana, Director of WorkForce Health and Immediate Care

Also referred to as occupational health, WorkForce Health is Riverside's program for employer and employee health. It works with local businesses to keep their workers healthy and safe on the job. Akash Rana is the Director of Immediate Care and WorkForce Health at Riverside, and he understands the importance of the program. "The goal is to help businesses keep their workforce healthy, while making sure employees have access to quality care when they need it," he states.

Services include:
•    pre-employment physicals
•    DOT physicals
•    drug and alcohol testing
•    care for work injuries

The team also does hearing tests and fit testing for respirators. And, they can come right to your workplace to offer flu shots, health checks, and other services. There's no need for employees to leave work.

A Real Partnership With Local Businesses

WorkForce Health does more than just provide services. The team gets to know each business and builds a plan around its needs. "We meet with employers to understand their workforce needs and help design programs to support them," shares Rana. Since WorkForce Health is part of Riverside Healthcare, businesses can also connect employees to specialty care, imaging, and rehab. It is a full healthcare partner; not a one-time visit.

Why Employee Health Matters

Some businesses may wonder if investing in employee health is worth it. The answer is yes. "A healthy workforce tends to mean fewer injuries, fewer missed work days, and better productivity," Rana explains. There is also a bigger picture. When a company puts its workers first, it builds trust. "It shows employees that their organization cares about their wellbeing," he adds. That leads to a better, stronger workplace for everyone.

Not Only for Employers

You do not have to work for a WorkForce Health partner to use these services. People can come in on their own for DOT physicals, drug and alcohol testing, and other screenings. Through Riverside's immediate care clinics, anyone can also be seen for a work injury or illness—no employer program needed.

Where to Go

WorkForce Health services are available at several Riverside locations. The main clinic is in Bradley. You can also find services at immediate care clinics in Kankakee, Coal City, Watseka, and the new Bourbonnais location. For more details, visit riversidehealthcare.org.
