Welcome from the Program Director

Dear prospective fellows,

The Riverside Interventional Cardiology Program was established in 2016 with an enrollment of one fellow per year. The program complies with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, in addition to guidelines and recommendations set forth by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and Society of Cardiovascular Interventions (SCAI).

Our interventional cardiologists perform enough interventional procedures each year to allow our fellow to meet the requirements to sit for the interventional cardiology boards. Fellows must participate in the pre-procedural planning, critical technical manipulations for the procedure, documentation, and post-procedure follow-up. The clinical experience of the fellow will allow the fellow to achieve exposure and competency in percutaneous coronary intervention, radial artery access and intervention, intravascular ultrasound, fractional flow reserve, adjunctive therapies (atherectomy, thrombectomy, support devices), peripheral angiography, and intervention. In addition, there will be exposure to congenital heart disease procedures (ASD/PFO closure), endovascular AAA repair, and some structural exposure. The fellow must participate and present in our weekly cath conference and work with the general cardiology fellows.

The Interventional faculty is dedicated to providing supportive supervision, integrated didactic instruction, and helping each fellow become successful.

I hope the information on our website helps provide a brief overview of our program as you evaluate your options. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
