Every well-child visit becomes story time when you help us place a brand-new book in a child’s hands.

A Prescription to Read

At Riverside pediatric clinics, physicians “prescribe” daily reading and provide children—from six months through age five—with a new, developmentally appropriate book during well-child visits. Families also receive simple tips to help make reading aloud a happy, healthy habit at home.

Reach Out & Read supports early language skills, school readiness and family bonding. Last year alone, donor generosity helped place more than 8,000 books into little hands across Kankakee County.
