A Snapshot of Our Services

We offer an extensive range of imaging services and technologies, with same-day appointments available for many.

Computed Tomography (CT)

This fast and painless scan uses X-rays and a computer to make detailed images of the bones, muscles, and organs. Our team performs everything from routine CT scans of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, and pelvis to CT-guided biopsies that detect disorders, pinpoint tumors, and confirm treatment progress.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI is a simple, radiation-free procedure that uses a powerful magnetic field to produce images of the body. Our specialists use MRI to examine the heart, blood vessels, brain, breasts, spine, joints, abdomen, and pelvic area for abnormalities, infections, and disease. Riverside offers wide-bore MRI systems with a 70cm bore diameter for a more spacious experience.

Mammography

Mammography plays a central part in the early detection of breast cancer. We were the first in the region to offer 3D digital mammography exams, and we're recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Visit our breast screening & diagnosis page to read about our Screening and Risk Assessment Program.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine creates images of the body with the aid of a special camera. This technology provides information often unobtainable through other imaging procedures, including early disease detection. Our radiologists use it to diagnose cancers, heart disease, and gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurological disorders.

Radiography (X-Ray)

X-ray is the most widely used medical imaging technology, and our radiologists are experts with it. Our team takes X-ray images to evaluate disease, locate foreign objects, and identify fractured bones and other abnormalities. X-ray is currently unavailable at the Coal City Campus through late September 2026.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to capture images of the body's internal structures. A gold standard test for diagnosing unexplained pain, swelling, and infection, ultrasound also guides biopsies and helps evaluate blood flow. It's the preferred method for monitoring pregnancy, and our most requested imaging test.

Coal City Campus update: X-ray services at our Coal City Campus are unavailable through late September 2026 while we install new equipment. X-ray is available at our Frankfort, Bourbonnais, Kankakee, and Watseka campuses. Call Radiology Services at (815) 935-7525 with questions.
